Decision Agent AI Aptitude: use AI and retain judgement
An available scenario configuration that reviews the work candidates complete with AI and how they use its help against recruiter-defined behaviours.

What it is for
Decision Agent AI Aptitude is an available configuration of Scenario Simulation with an AI assistant included. It examines role-specific work alongside the candidate’s use of AI. It is not a separate product engine or a general test of prompt-writing skill.
The recruiter defines how effective AI use should look for the role, with assistance from Decision Agent. Those behaviours are agreed before candidates respond. The same platform can support a routine work task or a complex professional scenario.
What candidates experience
Candidates work through a text-based scenario with access to the configured assistant. They can ask for information, explore unfamiliar concepts, request an approach or check their reasoning. The work still takes place in the scenario’s people, systems, facts and constraints.
What candidates ask and how they use the help are captured. This lets the assessment consider their AI use alongside what they actually do, rather than treating a fluent prompt or an assistant’s answer as sufficient evidence of competence.
What recruiters review
The report brings together evidence from the work and the candidate’s assistant use. Findings concern the predefined behaviours: for example, whether the candidate checks an assumption, applies relevant knowledge or recognises an error.
Using AI to obtain knowledge can be positive: nobody can know everything. Asking for a recommendation is not automatically a weakness either. The relevant distinction is whether the candidate understands and evaluates the assistance, or relies on a decision without assessing why it fits.
Worked example: checking a recommendation
Illustrative example: a candidate asks the assistant for a way to handle competing deadlines. Its suggestion assumes that both deadlines can move, while the scenario states that one is fixed.
A reviewer can examine whether the candidate checks the assumption and changes the plan. Explaining which parts of a suggestion fit the task provides different evidence from copying it without evaluation. Both the task and those assessment behaviours should reflect the actual role.
Limitations and human review
A single task samples AI use in one context with the configured assistant. It does not establish proficiency with every AI tool or demonstrate future job performance. AI judgements concern behaviours in the recorded evidence, and recruiters can inspect and challenge them.
This configuration is available today. Studying whether these findings predict later performance is future work once sufficient assessment and outcome data exists. Candidate technical help is by email; assessment exceptions remain the recruiter’s decision.
